Neighborhood Walk

Neighborhood Walk

Sometimes, all it takes for a little adventure is just one step out of your front door.

While I would love to call this place "home," this traditional-style neighborhood is actually where my parents live. We find ourselves here fairly often, either to visit them or simply to enjoy a walk around the area.

Norton Commons is located just northeast of Louisville in the city of Prospect. I've personally never seen anything quite like it, though I've heard the concept is growing across the country. The neighborhood feels like a small town in and of itself; rows and rows of houses surround many opportunities for community, such as shops, restaurants, businesses, a YMCA, an elementary school, parks, pools, and playgrounds. Not to mention, all of the homes are insanely beautiful and well-designed. Throughout the summer, they offer special events, such as concerts and food trucks in the amphitheater at the park.

What I love about Norton Commons is that it offers a sense of community that seems to have been lost in recent years. You see people joining together and building relationships just outside of their front door, which is almost a forgotten art in our culture.

I adore many of the local businesses here; especially 7 Southern Giraffes, Lulubelles, Verbena Cafe, and Citizen 7.

Definitely dreaming about tacos.

Today, Michael, Trippe, and I simply took a walk through the downtown area, exploring the shops and seeing what was new. Getting Trippe to walk with us, and in a straight line, is one of the biggest challenges these days (when you're two, you want to explore everything in site, and rocks are SUPER cool). We ended our walk with a delicious tray of nachos at Citizen 7 (I'm gonna regret that sour cream tomorrow, y'all).

My favorite memory from today: watching my guys walk hand-in-hand down the street, while Trippe yelled "HURRY, daddy!"

What beautiful neighborhoods can you explore in your city?

One of my new favorite memories.
